CBDT has issued a notification No.42/2017 on 02.06.2017 for amending Rule 31(3) and thereby extends the due date
of furnishing of Form 16 to the employees from 31st May to 15th June for the previous
financial year. Now for issuing of form 16 the deductors will get 15 days more
otherwise before this amendment the last date for issuing Form 16 was 31st may
and for each delay there was a fine of Rs.100/- per day.
